On the 22nd November (reports the Wild River Times) a party of aboriginals visited Smith's selection on Nigger Creek, Herberton district (a locality that has for a long time enjoyed a remarkable immunity from the dusky pests), and after prizing out one of the side logs of the dwelling-house to which a chain connected with the lock of the door was attached, entered and decamped with the following articles, namely, a quantity of flour and sugar, a rifle, a new axe, knives, clothing, and sundry other articles. It is a noteworthy fact, and one that points at least to some of the robbers being accustomed to the use of the rifle, that though a double-barrelled gun was lying close to the rifle they stole, they did not deem it worth carrying away.
