| Has Description of Event | Hewson engaged two black boys to carry his swag to the tin fields, agreeing to pay them for their work on arrival there. When camped on the bank of Boomerang Creek, the blacks, who have told the whole of the circumstances to their tribe, asked for their money, and on Hewson's refusal to give it, one of them struck him with the back of a tomahawk on the head and the other with the edge of his tomakawk, killing him. They then buried the body in a shallow hole, and buried the swag. The two boys are known to the police, but so far have succeded in avoiding them. | [1] |
