We followed the trail next day for five or six miles till it brought us to impenetrable country and Pine scrubs. The rain falling in torrents several horses were knocked up, and the provisions all wet, I judged it expedient to return to Mr Clarke’s Station on the Calliope. From thence I arrived here last night after having been absent eighteen days and during which time we had fifteen days rain.'
