| Description of Event | a parcel of old domesticated blacks, living at and around Mr. Marshall's station, called Gundi Windi, on the McIntyre River, in the night slaughtered a bullock belonging to Mr. Marshall, a part of which they feasted on at their camp, and the remainder they planted among the trees close by the hut. One of the gins gave Mr. Marshall to understand what was going on. When he and Mr. R. Yeomans came up to them they at once showed fight, threw their waddies at Mr. Marshall and a spear at Mr. Yeomans; fortunately Mr. Yeomans stooped down, and the spear went over his shoulder, cutting through two shirts he had on at the time, and slightly grazing his shoulder. While they were thus engaged one of the tribe was concocting a plan to carry away Mr. Marshall's child from the door, when he was fortunately observed by Mr. Marshall | [1] |
