- ASSAULT BY A BLACK.— Information has been received that James Heeney, sheep overseer at Mr. Kennedy's station, at Tierryboo, was attacked by a blackfellow named Chinaman, while returning from some out-stations. Heeney was unarmed, but being mounted he managed to escape. Some time since this same blackfellow killed a native boy who was well known on the station, and this circumstance was made known by Heeney to the tribe to which the boy belonged. Chinaman was obliged to submit to the usual native trial in such cases and received severe wounds; and the attack on Heeney is imputed to a spirit of revenge for the evidence furnished by Heeney of the murder of the black boy.[1]all time · Row 0997 Eid 23776
