• The blacks are again active in the neighbour hood at Cooktown. They always are, at any rate according to the local papers. One says : — "Not only did they cut the telegraph wire in two places, almost within a stone's throw of Cooktown, and stole any quantity of the wire for spear heads, but afterwards visited the cattle station of Mr. George Murphy, on the Endeavor, about four miles from town, and speared several fine heifers."
