Has Description of Event'Late Mr. C. Palmer Long Eventful Life Mr. Charles Palmer, who died recently at Wellington Point, was born at Bath, England, In 1839. ... STATION TRAGEDY. Mr. Palmer was living not far from the scene of the Fraser family murder in the Dawson and one night after he had returned home there came a knock at the door and a black said, 'White fella we want you.' He replied, "Alright, you can have me," and went to the door, jumping back just in time to miss a nulla nulla. He then pointed the revolver at the black, who ran away. He told his wife to take the child and make for the river about a mile from the station, and he followed. A Mr. Kennedy was In charge of the station and they stayed there until the black troopers arrived, and after telling them the direction the blacks were in they rode away and returned with eight, including the ringleader of the Fraser murder. The men were told to circle round and leave an opening for them to go through, and as the blacks passed by they were shot down.' (Telegraph 23 April 1932, p3)[1]
