Quoted in Morning BulletinNORTHERN MAIL NEWS. COOKTOWN, AND DISTRICT. CAIRNS A correspondent of the Advertiser observes that it was hoped that the visit of Sub Inspector Carr and troopers to the Mulgrave would have deterred the poor blacks from committing more depredations, at least for a time, upon horses, &c., but it does not appear to have had the desired effect; as no sooner had the police left than the remains of a horse, the property of Mr. Robert Gordon, were found, fresh killed within two miles of the town. Mr. Gordon has thus lost two valuable animals, destroyed by the blacks within a week or two.[1]
Quoted in QueenslanderSub-inspector Carr paid us a visit, and patrolled the Mulgrave and the Inlet country. The use-lessness of these flying visits from a detachment of the native police force is apparent, for the day after Mr. Carr left Goldsborough a valuable horse was killed close to that town ...[1]
