| Has Notes Comments | It is suggested there was a settler led "dispersal" of Aboriginal people after this: "Dispersal" of blacks is not yet out of date. The blacks having killed and carried off several bullocks from near the Laura and Normanby, last week (saya a Cooktown paper), the settlers mastered, and gave chase, getting up with and punishing the robbers before the police caught their hordes. Both the niggers and the gins spoke very fair English, and appeared to belong to the mission station, Cape Bedford, where they have gained enough civilization to make them doubly dangerous to what they were in their wild state.
