Has DescriptionhasDescription
- ... in accordance with your instructions I proceeded on the 20th inst to the camp occupied by Messrs Chamberlain and Martin & found that a considerable quantity of clothing, blankets &c had been abstracted by the blacks during the absence of the owners. I immediately started in pursuit of the offenders and having following their tracks from the immediate vicinity of Messrs Chamberlain & Martin's camp, I cam upon a mob camped near the mouth of the "Murray River". Having only three troopers with me, I judged it advisable to take the extreme measure of dispersing the camp at once. The result showed that my opinion was correct inasmuch as the whole of the property stolen from the whites was found in the camp. Every article stolen was returned to the whites, who expressed their satisfaction."
