Has Description of EventThe Crown Prosecutor having stated the case, Launcelot Westwood Tolson, was called and deposed : I live at Miriam Vale. The prisoner was in my employ. He was about the shed in shearing time. He was living on my station in February last. In that month I missed a great quantity of sheep. On the night of the 11th February a shearer came to me: I went to the sheep camp. The sheep were then all right in the yard. This was about 11 or 12 o'clock at night. I saw a fire. I missed the sheep some days afterwards. I drove away the blacks on the morning of the 12th. I had missed the sheep on the 12th, but I thought the shepherds had lost them. I saw the prisoner run away with a number of other blacks from the gunyah. In the gunyah the prisoner ran from, I found parts of a sheep between the tea tree bark, and in little bags. I had not given the prisoner any mutton or authorised him to kill any sheep. He was not apprehended till August.[1]
