• The blacks have been at their work. A packer who arrived on Tuesday says that while he was camped at the shanty this side the scrub, on Sunday morning last, two of the shanty-keeper's horses galloppod up in a state of terror, one with a spear in his thigh, the other with a spear through his body. The horses had been feeding a few hundred yards from the shanty, and had there been attacked by the blacks, who were no doubt disappointed at loosing their breakfast of " yarraman." We cannot help thinking that if the district were properly patrolled, the myals would not be so cheeky. The plan adopted in the early days of the North, of sticking to them and following them up for a fortnight at a time had more effect in terrorising them than rush ing a dozen camps. It was no doubt a more troublesome way of dealing with them, but it was more efficacious. We recommend Mr. Douglas to try it.^[1]all time · Row 1355 Eid 39531
