Has Description of EventhasDescriptionOfEvent

  • Outrages committed by blackfellows appear to be on the increase. On Saturday afternoon, a woman named Harriet McCoy, living at the One-mile Swamp, South Brisbane, was standing at the door of her house, when she was accosted by a blackfellow, who stated that if she came out he would show her a bees' nest. She went out, and he followed her; but had not proceeded far when he hit her several times on the head with a nullah nullah until she became insensible. When she came to herself she found she was lying in a pool of blood. Medical assistance was necessary, as the wounds inflicted were of a dangerous character. She imagines that the blackfellow—whom she thinks she will be able to identify—intended to steal a watch that he saw hanging up behind the door, which, however, he did not take. On Sunday aftenoon several children were playing together in the vicinity of Bowen Bridge, when one of them, a little girl named Many Ann Love, nine years of age, was induced to go after a blackfellow. She followed him for some short distance, when he attempted to commit a rape.[1]all time · Row 1845 Eid 53318
