Has Description of EventhasDescriptionOfEvent
- The other murder occurred on the Thomson River, in the Mitchell district, the victim being a German who was travelling in search of employment and of permission to depasture a few sheep. His dead body was found, with several spear wounds, in a waterhole; and the correspondent of the Port Denison Times relates what followed. "The neighbours assembled, and immediately set off to chastise the murderers, and succeeded in doing so to a greater extent than, in the present haste, I dare mention. Of this, however, under any circumstances, perhaps the least said by me the better." Perhaps, so, indeed; but the writer goes on to express his disgust at the fact that the body of the murdered German was still suffered to remain in the bush unburied.
