Has Description of EventhasDescriptionOfEvent
- ‘A man named John Barnes, a gardener, was speared on Sunday morning by the blacks, while working in the garden, near Mackay. The scene of this outrage is within a cooey of the town, but on the opposite side of the river, and in an isolated position on the border of dense scrub. A body of volunteers have been out after the blacks. Barnes is suffering very much from the wound, but it is not considered likely to prove fatal.’ (Queensland Daily Guardian, 26 February 1867, p2; Queensland Times, Ipswich Herald and General Advertiser, 19 March 1867, p4; Toowoomba Chronicle and Queensland Advertiser, 27 February 1867, p3)[1]all time · Row 0705 Eid 20704
