- ‘The blacks are still troublesome. Intelligence has been given to us to the effect that a few days after the blacks had murdered a shepherd at Burenda, on the Warrego River, in the early part of last month, they proceeded to a station on the Nive, belonging to Mr. Spencer, about twenty miles distance from the scene of the former outrage, and murdered one of the shepherds, known as the Boatswain. In this instance the native police were close on the trail, and there is no doubt will prevent a recurrence of these outrages for some time to come.’ (Brisbane Courier 16 September1865, p6)[1]all time · Row 0156 Eid 10769
