Has Description of EventhasDescriptionOfEvent
- The Blacks Again.— There has been a widow woman, of the name of Mrs Kelly, shepherding at Juandah during the last five years, who I believe always carried fire-arms. Yesterday, a blackfellow met her on the run, attacked her, and attempted to violate her person. She ran away, and he pursued and overtook her. He raised his tomahawk to strike her, when she with her pistol shot him dead. I only wish there had been more like Mrs Kelly, on the Dawson, some years ago, and I am certain the blacks would not have committed near so many depredations as they have done. I believe the above to be correct, for I heard it from reliable sources.— Dawson River Correspondent of D. D. Gazette.' (Mount Alexander Mail 3 January 1862, p3)[1]all time · Row 0953 Eid 23285
